I don’t know about you but stain is an amazing look on wood, it enhances the lines of the grains so perfectly and looks sharp in any décor setting. But the downfall of stains is that 1, it smells awful. It’s high concentrate makes it hard to breathe while adding it to wood and 2, it takes so very long to dry. But I have good news for you! what if you could have that perfect beautiful look without the stentch and wait time? Well heres how, go to your local art store and get acrylic paint, decide what color you are looking to get prior to getting it. For this demo i’m going to use dark brown and a touch of black, you will need a paint brush or sponge brush, a cloth (can be an old t shirt piece) a throwaway cup some sand paper and some water

  1. Take your piece of wood and sand it. When you are finished take a piece of paper towel and make sure all the sawdust is off the wood.

  2. Dampen the cloth then add to your cup your colors until you get the desired shade.

  3. Add water to the cup of paint until it is a thin consistency like stain

  4. Dab paint brush into the paint and start painting in strokes along the grain as you would with stain, if it puddles no worries, take your wet cloth and rub it lightly down the grain. (you can continue painting with the brush or use the cloth)

  5. Let wood sit, it will take about 5- 10 minutes to be completely dry and be able to add vinyl to or decorate

  6. You can seal the wood with a glossy or matte finish of modge podge that also takes only a few minutes to dry

  7. And that’s it! You have successfully stained wood with paint, a game changer in making quick projects.
